Mason is here!!!!!

Now that we are all settled in at home, I figured it was time to update the blog! On April 7th, 2011 at 4:35pm Kurt and I welcomed a new addition to the family....Mason Jordan Johnson.  It all happened so fast we still cant believe he is already here. My due date was April 14th but Mason had different plans. Wednesday night at 10:30pm I started having contractions.  I didnt want to be that person that called the doctor every hour so I figured I would just try to get some sleep and call in the morning.  Well that was impossible.  I started timing them and they were only 5 minutes apart.  I still didnt believe it was the real thing since just on Tuesday morning the doctor said there was no change or progress.  As the night went on they got worse and I couldnt sleep.  I did laundry, took out the garbage and packed our bags in case we were at the hospital that night.  At 2:30am I called the doctor.  They told me to continue to monitor them and call back when the contractions were a minute to a minute and a half long and 3 minutes apart.  If things didnt progress they wanted me to still call at 8am when the office opened and make an appointment to see the doctor.  Well when I called at 8am they told me to go to the hospital.  This was a nightmare considering it was rush hour traffic!  I was still not in significant pain and was able to breathe through each contraction.  I dont think Kurt believed I was actually in labor.  He was convinced I had ZERO pain tolerance.  Well I showed him!!!!  When we finally got to the hospital sometime after 9am they told us that I was already 6cm dilated!  Neither of us could believe it! We were going to not only have a  baby that day but it was going to be sooner rather than later.  All in all labor was like my pregnancy......not as bad as I expected!  It was all worth it cause now I have the most beautiful little boy.....and yes he is little....6lbs 10 oz and 9 inches long.

Everyone told us to not be afraid to use the nursery at the hospital.  Well we kept Mason in the room with us the whole night both nights and he was great!  He hardly cried and only woke up to eat and went back to sleep.  That is the same way he is today.  He is such a great baby!

Saturday we finally made it home around 4pm.  We were welcomed by lots of family that were waiting for us at the house.  Mason has settled in just perfectly!  We just love him to pieces!!  Here are a few pictures of the little peanut.

All We Need is Mason......

Now that I have had time to recover from last weekend, I figured it was time to update the blog. March 18th was Kurt's 30th birthday!!!! That weekend we had a couples baby shower and then I threw him a surprise party at Blackfinn Saloon in uptown Charlotte. Many of our friends and family came into town for the occasion. It was a blast! And we couldn't have asked for more perfect weather.....sunny and 80 all weekend!! We all had a great time (some more than others....LOL)! Thanks to everyone who made the trip to NC.  It was great to see you all!

On top of all the festivities we had planned, it was also the first weekend of March Madness. Always an exciting time of year!  Friday (the big day) we started off by going to breakfast at Terrace Cafe.  By far my favorite place to have breakfast!  DELISH!  After breakfast the guys went to drink beer and watch all the games. The girls went to get mani / pedis.  That night we invited all out of town guests to Paco's, Tacos, & Tequila for dinner and more basketball games.  Here are a couple of pics from the night......

Craig showing off one of Kurts gag birthday gifts.......
Ice Tea, Jeff?  It was only 6pm and he had already switched to non-alcoholic beverages!
Birthday boy with his brownie and fried ice cream sundae....

At 12:00 on Saturday we had the couples baby shower.  It was Pickles and Ice Cream themed. There was plenty of great food and a create your own ice cream sundae bar for dessert!  Yum-O! It was a gorgeous day and Mason got lots of great gifts!  Thanks everyone!!!

The loot....

Here are some pictures of the gifts after we had time to get them together in the nursery or playroom......

New baseball rug and sports mobile.

 Baseball ceiling fan...

Mason's piggy bank......better start saving now!!!!! Baskets on the changing table have his favorite sports teams on the chalkboards. Had to leave the baseball one as TBD to humor Daddy.  We all know Mason will bleed pinstripes.
Yankee blanket made by Kristin!  Smitty loves going into Masons room when I am in there and sprawling out on the blanket.  So cute!
Mason's Yankee rocking chair and his first Yankee Stadium hot dog from Great Aunt Karen and Uncle Dan!
Baseball glove chair. Mommy found this at Home Goods.  Couldn't leave without it!
Pack and Play from Uncle Andrew and Aunt Lindsay!
Mama Roo bouncy seat / swing from Uncle Craig. Daddy's favorite gift!!!!

Car seat all set in the car!  So weird driving around and seeing this in the rear view mirror.  Only a couple of weeks and there will be a little one in there!  Hard to believe. Time has gone by sooooooo fast!
 Bags packed for the hospital.

After the baby shower we had a couple hours to rest before we headed to Blackfinn for the surprise party.  Kurt thought we were going out to dinner uptown. When we were on the way to "dinner" my brother called and said that Kyrie Irving was at Blackfinn.  Things couldn't have worked out more perfect....of course Kurt insisted that we go there before dinner so he could try to get an autograph. Kyrie was already gone when we got there but my dad managed to get an autograph for Kurt. Here are some pictures from the night.

Carrot Cake!!!!!

 Kyrie.....
Surprise!!!!!

The weekend was a success!  Everyone had a great time!  Needless to say we spent all day Sunday on the couch watching college basketball.  A week has passed and Kurt is finally fully recovered.  I guess 30 hits some people really hard!!!!  LOL.

We Love Our Bank

I couldn't help but record this. It was so funny!!!  Plus it gave me practice with my new Flip Video!! Smitty came running from the kitchen tonight when the stupid "We Love Our Bank" commercial came on.

Welcome to Babywood

This past weekend we traveled to NY for two of our baby showers.  Of course it was a gorgeous weekend in Charlotte and we traveled to the north and got nothing but cold and snow! Oh well we still had a good time.

All the festivities were Saturday.  I had a traditional baby shower with my mom in the afternoon and then a family shower with my dad that evening.  Both showers were a lot of fun and Mason got some great gifts! It was great to see all our friends and family!  Thanks to everyone who helped plan the showers or just came to celebrate Mason!  Here are some pics from the afternoon shower and one from the evening shower.  I will have to ask my Dad to send me more from that night.  I didn't have my camera with me!  :(

Ticket cookies with a M for Mason

 Popcorn cake

Here is a picture of the super cute favors from the family shower. "Mason"jars filled with sports chocolate.  Very clever idea!

"Mason in 4D"

This week I had a doctors appointment and had 4D ultrasound pictures taken of Mason. I opted to have this ultrasound done, as it isnt a normal procedure, cause I had to be sure I was having a boy and that he had all required body parts.  You know me I just wanted the extra level of comfort. It was pretty amazing the pictures they are able to get these days. Mason is indeed a boy and everything looked great! Here are some pictures from the appointment.  Notice that Mason has been blessed with his fathers big nose!  LOL.

                                                               ITS A BOY!!!!

                                                                         Peace!!!

This one shows him sticking out his tongue.  Another feature he inherited from his father....if you look closely you can see the tip is missing....must be from all those back flips he has been doing recently.

We also had our first child birth class this week. I could have done without the videos!  If you are reading this and are going to be a fiirst time mom soon pass on the classes and just wing it!  I am pretty sure after class #1 Mason will be an only child!  We have round 2 next Thursday night.
